Tuyen Quang is a North of Vietnam’s mountainous province with total natural area of 5,860 square kilometers, and total population of 727,751 people (in 2005).

Tuyen Quang is a mountainous province in the North of Vietnam. It is located between North West and North East of Vietnam, in the latitude of 21o30' N - 22o40 N and in the longitude of 104o53'E - 105o40'E. It borders Ha Giang in the North, Bac Kan and Thai Nguyen in the East, Yen Bai in the West, Phu Tho and Vinh Phuc in the South.

- Traffic system: There are national roads running across the province including the national road No 2 with 90 kilometers long (from Doi Binh commune of Yen Son district to Yen Lam commune of Ham Yen district) connecting Ha Noi and Phu Tho with Tuyen Quang and Ha Giang provinces, the national road No 37 joining Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang (crossing Son Duong and Yen Son districts) and Yen Bai, the national road No 2C connecting Vinh Yen town of Vinh Phuc province with Son Duong district and Tuyen Quang town.

Tuyen Quang has a population of 727,751 persons (as of 2005) from 22 different ethnic groups, of which 387,992 persons or 53.9% are in labour age with 4.2% working in industrial sector, 2.6% in forestry and aquaculture sectors, 1% in service sector, and the left (above 80%) working in agriculture sector.

With total natural area of 586,800 hectares, Tuyen Quang is among the medium size provinces in Viet Nam with average land area per capita of 0.87 hectare (as of 2004). The province owns quite fertile soil which creates favourable conditions for specialized growing of tea, sugar-cane, peanut for processing industry. Out of the total land area, 70,195 ha or 11.96% is agriculture land, 445,848 ha or 76.16% is forest land; 5,156 ha is residential land, and the left (i.e. 26,765 ha) is unused land.

Tuyen Quang has a total of 467 places of interests including such nation-wide important sites as Tan Trao, Kim Binh, Kim Quan, and Lang Ngoi - Da Ban. Rich in revolutionary traditions and diversified ethnic identities, Tuyen Quang is not only the starting point but also the place for gathering and exchanging cultural features of ethnic minorities in the North of Vietnam through festivals, legends and folksongs, etc, to attract tourists.

In recent years, the province has achieved an average annual growth rate of over 11%; The economic structure is shifted towards an increase of proportion in industry-construction sector and decrease of proportion in agriculture and forestry sectors. In 2005, ratios for industry-construction, service, and agriculture-forestry sectors were 30.7%, 33.6% and 35.7% respectively.

In addition to fully and timely execution of incentive policies issued by the Central Government, the Provincial Government has also promulgated its own investment encouragement policies applied for those who invest in the province area (issued in conjunction with the Decision No 56/2005/QD-UBND dated August 8th 2005 by the Provincial People's Committee of Tuyen Quang).
