Building Tourism from the Ground Up
In Tuyen Quang, tourism begins at the grassroots level, drawing on the daily lives and traditions of local communities. Agricultural products, traditional crafts, and folk arts have been woven into tourism offerings, creating authentic experiences for visitors. The province has officially recognized three homestay tourism cooperatives that meet 3- to 4-star standards under the national "One Commune One Product" (OCOP) program, serving as models for sustainable development.
OCOP has become a crucial bridge, bringing local specialties to travelers. From Lam Binh's corn wine fermented with forest herbs, Cao Lan people's chim gau cakes, Na Hang's handwoven brocade to wild forest honey, these products offer more than commercial value - they reflect the cultural identity and hard work of local ethnic communities.
By integrating cultural preservation with tourism, Tuyen Quang not only enhances the value of local products and secures stable livelihoods but also safeguards its intangible cultural heritage.
Strategic Policies Driving Growth
Fully aware of tourism’s role in socio-economic development, the province has adopted a series of comprehensive policies. Central to this is Resolution No. 29-NQ/TU, issued by the province in 2021, which outlines a long-term vision to turn tourism into a key economic pillar.
Alongside this, the province is investing in product development, workforce training, promotion, and digitalization of tourism services. These measures aim to diversify tourism products, raise service quality, and create a business-friendly environment for investors and local communities alike.
Infrastructure Upgrades and Smart Tourism
Tuyen Quang’s expanding infrastructure is laying the groundwork for tourism growth. The opening of the Tuyen Quang - Phu Tho Expressway has shortened travel time from Hanoi, improving accessibility. Upgraded routes connecting major sites such as Na Hang, Lam Binh, and My Lam hot springs are opening up new tourism corridors.
At the same time, smart tourism initiatives - including a digital information portal, the Tuyen Quang Tourism app, and free public wifi at tourist sites - are enhancing visitor experiences and making information more accessible.
Impressive Growth, Ambitious Future
Between 2021 and 2024, Tuyen Quang attracted nearly 10 million visitors, generating over 10.6 trillion VND (around USD 415 million) in tourism revenue and contributing 5.2% to the province’s GRDP. The sector has created over 22,000 jobs, particularly benefiting remote and ethnic minority communities.
Tuyen Quang aims to elevate several key destinations by 2030: the Na Hang - Lam Binh Ecotourism Area as a national tourism hub, the My Lam hot springs as an international-standard resort, and Tan Trao as a center for cultural, historical, and educational tourism. These efforts promise to position Tuyen Quang as an increasingly attractive destination on Viet Nam’s growing tourism map.
