Expanding circular agriculture models
Tuyen Quang currently has nearly 5,700 hectares of crops certified under safe and sustainable production standards. More than 3,200 hectares meet VietGAP standards, 1,561 hectares are certified organic, nearly 915 hectares meet Rainforest Alliance standards, and 8 hectares meet GlobalGAP standards - considered the strictest benchmark for safe agriculture.
In addition, nearly 2,000 hectares have been granted 149 planting area codes, including 25 export codes for markets in China and Europe. The results reflect years of gradual changes in production thinking and expanded safe farming practices among farmers and businesses.

Shan tuyet tea products of Son Tra Cooperative in Hong Thai commune have achieved a five-star OCOP rating and are steadily building a strong market position
Alongside high-tech farming, organic and circular agriculture models are increasingly encouraged and expanded across Tuyen Quang. The reuse of agricultural by-products and reduced dependence on chemical fertilizers and pesticides not only lower production costs, but also help protect soil and water ecosystems and public health.
Hung Tam village has become one of Hung An commune’s leading clean fruit-growing areas. In 2018, the Hung Tam Clean Vegetable and Fruit Cooperative was established to support farmers in applying organic cultivation and care techniques. Many households have shifted inefficient garden and hillside land to fruit cultivation, including pomelo, guava, apple, longan and sapodilla. By following proper technical processes, local products have maintained stable prices and gained recognition for quality.
According to the provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment, more than 3,900 hectares of crops across the province are now produced under modern and smart agriculture standards, mainly fruit trees, industrial crops and vegetables. Smart farming applications have increased product value by around 30-40% compared with traditional methods. Pest and disease rates have fallen by 35-40%, while large-scale outbreaks have been effectively prevented - seen as a major achievement in technology-based disease management.
Strengthening its position
With strong potential and advantages in green, safe and sustainable agriculture, Tuyen Quang is steadily strengthening its position on Vietnam’s agricultural map. The province now has 12 products granted geographical indication certificates by Vietnam’s Intellectual Property Office, along with more than 450 OCOP products rated three stars or higher, including two products that have achieved national five-star status.
Among the province’s best-known products are Shan tuyet tea, bạc hà mint honey, seedless Quan Ba persimmon, yellow cattle, Sanh oranges, Soi Ha pomelos and turmeric starch. Alongside raw material planning, the province has focused on production under VietGAP, GlobalGAP and organic standards, while strengthening trademark protection to increase the value and competitiveness of agricultural products.
From practical local models, it is clear that green agriculture in Tuyen Quang is moving toward deeper and more sustainable development. Success is measured not only by growth figures, but also by ecosystem sustainability, stable incomes for farmers and growing market confidence in the province’s agricultural products.
