Potatoes grown under the linkage model yield high productivity
This marks the second consecutive year of the model's deployment. In the 2025-2026 Winter-Spring crop, Viettrans Logistics JSC collaborated with farmers in An Tuong Ward and Ngoc Duong Commune, cultivating over 22 hectares of the FL2215 potato variety. This specialized industrial processing variety is renowned for its high yield and uniform tuber quality. Within this framework, the Dong Tham Plant and Animal Breeding Center in An Tuong Ward acted as the production hub for 17 hectares, while Ngoc Duong Commune participated in the model with 5 hectares.
Mr. Dao Van Manh, Director of Viettrans Logistics JSC, stated that the pivotal point of this linkage model is the corporate commitment to off-take the entire harvest at stable prices directly at the field. This ensures farmers can invest with confidence while guaranteeing a consistent raw material supply for processing plants. "This model not only secures the supply for our new factory in Ninh Binh, but also contributes to building a modern agricultural foundation that reduces environmental impact, aligning perfectly with our green development strategy."
Potatoes Taking Root
A standout feature of this model is that the entire production process is organized towards modernization and environmental friendliness. Key stages - including soil preparation, furrowing, seeding, and crop tending - are fully mechanized using specialized machinery. This leveraging of mechanization significantly slashes labor costs while boosting production efficiency.
Furthermore, an automated drip irrigation system has been installed across the production area allowing for the precise delivery of water and nutrients tailored to each growth stage of the crop. Thereby, this conserves water, minimizes fertilizer runoff, and mitigates environmental footprints.
Beyond technical transfers, enterprises are gradually integrating digital technology into production management. Farmers are trained to use drones for field monitoring and crop health tracking, as well as managing cultivation schedules and adjusting irrigation directly via smartphones.
After more than three months of cultivation following strict technical protocols, the potato crops in An Tuong and Ngoc Duong have been harvested. Results show an average yield of approximately 28 tons per hectare. With the contract-guaranteed off-take price ranging from 7,500 - 8,000 VND/kg, farmers earn a net profit of 50 - 60 million VND per hectare after deducting production costs.
In Ngoc Duong Commune, where 5 hectares of FL2215 were planted, many households have decisively transitioned from traditional subsistence crops to linkage-based potato farming.
For Tuyen Quang, the initial success of the FL2215 model underscores the vast potential for developing raw material zones for the processing industry in the coming years. As demand for industrial raw materials surges, expanding corporate-linked production models will be a crucial direction to enhance agricultural value. This serves as the foundation for Tuyen Quang’s agricultural sector to gradually "green" its raw material regions, ensuring sustainable development and prosperity for its people.
