Delegates posed for a group photo
On September 7, a delegation from the Department of Foreign Affairs of Xiangkhouang Province, Lao PDR, led by Deputy Director Souphanh Kalachak, paid a courtesy visit to the Department of Foreign Affairs of Tuyen Quang Province.
At the meeting, leaders of Tuyen Quang’s Department of Foreign Affairs welcomed the Xiangkhouang delegation. The two sides exchanged views on the recent provincial streamlining in Vietnam and discussed ways to strengthen cooperation at the local level.
Leaders of Tuyen Quang’s Department of Foreign Affairs briefed the delegation on the recent streamlining that merged Tuyen Quang and Ha Giang into the new Tuyen Quang province. The province now covers more than 13,000 square kilometers, with a population of over 1.8 million people, comprising 124 commune-level administrative units. It is home to the Thanh Thuy international border gate and shares more than 270 kilometers of border with China. Tuyen Quang will continue to uphold and further strengthen its traditional friendship with Xiengkhuang Province in the years ahead.
Both parties emphasized the long-standing special friendship between Vietnam and Laos and expressed their commitment to deepen cooperation in areas such as foreign affairs, people-to-people exchanges, and tourism promotion.
The courtesy visit reaffirmed traditional solidarity between the two countries and opened up new opportunities for practical cooperation between Tuyen Quang and Xiangkhouang.
