
The scene of the meeting
The Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region is a provincial-level administrative unit in southern China with a strategically important location. It shares a land border of more than 1,000 kilometers with Vietnam, borders the Gulf of Tonkin to the south, Yunnan to the west, Guizhou to the north, Hunan to the northeast, and Guangdong to the east.
Guangxi covers an area of approximately 237,600 square kilometers and has a population of about 58 million, comprising 14 prefecture-level administrative units and home to 12 ethnic groups. The region has long-standing ties with Vietnam’s border localities, including Tuyen Quang, which shares a 12.514-kilometer-long border segment.
Economically, Guangxi recorded a GDP of 28,649.4 billion yuan in 2024. In the first half of 2025, GDP reached 13,850.95 billion yuan, up 5.5 percent year on year, while total import-export turnover in the first five months stood at 3,871.5 billion yuan. Average per capita income was approximately 16,593 yuan.

Nanning, the capital of Guangxi, covers more than 22,100 square kilometers and has a population of nearly 9 million. It serves as a major transport and trade hub linking China with ASEAN.
The Guangxi side highlighted the outcomes of cooperation and exchanges with Vietnam’s border provinces, including Tuyen Quang, and expressed interest in expanding exchanges and experience-sharing between elected bodies, as well as cooperation in trade, agriculture, tourism, border management, and efforts to prevent cross-border crime.
The Guangxi side stressed the importance of close coordination to ensure that cooperative initiatives are implemented in a practical and effective manner for the benefit of people on both sides, noting that 2026 is expected to bring new opportunities for bilateral cooperation.
On behalf of the Tuyen Quang delegation, Vice Chairwoman Le Thi Thanh Tra expressed her appreciation for the warm and courteous reception extended by the Guangxi side, affirming that Tuyen Quang attaches great importance to the traditional friendship between Vietnam and China, as well as to its cooperative relations with the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

She proposed maintaining regular exchanges between the elected bodies of the two localities, sharing experience in oversight and decision-making on key local matters, and coordinating in rolling out border-related legal documents, while addressing arising issues in a timely manner to maintain security and order in border areas.
She also underscored the importance of advancing the opening of the Lung Lan – Longpang border access point, expanding agricultural cooperation through joint working mechanisms, strengthening cross-border labor management, and promoting exchanges in culture, tourism, and trade.
The meeting took place in an atmosphere of sincerity, trust, and friendship, reflecting the relationship of “good neighbors, good friends, good comrades, and good partners.”
The meeting played a role in strengthening mutual understanding, reinforcing cooperation between the elected bodies of the two localities, and promoting shared directions for cooperation, in line with the common understanding reached by senior leaders of the two Parties and States on building a Vietnam–China community with a shared future.
