
Tuyen Quang Provincial Party Secretary Hau A Lenh joined Party Secretaries of Dien Bien, Lai Chau and Lao Cai provinces, along with the Secretary of the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee, at the conference.
Since the 5th Annual Conference held in Lai Chau province, Vietnam in 2025, cooperation between Vietnam’s border localities and China’s Yunnan province has continued to expand, achieving comprehensive and practical results. Notably, the two sides organized 178 delegations at various levels for exchanges, friendship visits, experience sharing and people-to-people activities across multiple fields.
Total import-export turnover through border gates between Tuyen Quang and Yunnan from October 2025 to April 2026 reached USD 512 million, up 82.7% year-on-year. Cross-border trade settlement transactions between banks on both sides totaled USD 333.5 million during the same period.
The two sides also accelerated planning, construction and road connectivity projects, while actively promoting approval procedures for cross-border transport infrastructure. Cooperation in agriculture, culture, tourism, education and healthcare has continued to strengthen, bringing tangible benefits to people on both sides.

Addressing the conference, Tuyen Quang Provincial Party Secretary Hau A Lenh said the annual conference mechanism between Party Secretaries of Vietnamese provinces and the Secretary of the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee has become an important platform for strengthening political trust, promoting friendly exchanges and expanding comprehensive cooperation between localities on both sides.

o effectively implement the cooperation orientations agreed upon by senior leaders of the two countries, Hau A Lenh proposed further strengthening exchanges and cooperation in Party building, political system development and state governance.
He called for more regular exchange delegations among Party agencies, local authorities, front organizations and socio-political organizations, while expanding people-to-people exchanges and border youth exchange programs in diverse and practical forms. He also emphasized promoting twinning relationships between localities, schools, mass organizations and media agencies, as well as enhancing public awareness of the traditional Vietnam-China friendship and cooperation achievements between localities.

The two sides were also encouraged to strengthen cooperation in culture, education, training, healthcare and public health services. Leaders emphasized the importance of jointly organizing exchange activities during major national holidays and important political and cultural events, thereby helping strengthen mutual trust, enhance understanding and foster friendship between the peoples of both countries.
Tuyen Quang province will continue implementing scholarship programs and training cooperation initiatives, including providing scholarships for students from Wenshan prefecture, Yunnan province, to study Vietnamese language in Vietnam.

Mr. Hau A Lenh also expressed hope that both sides would actively implement cooperation activities within the framework of the Vietnam-China Tourism Year, strengthen connections among tourism enterprises, jointly develop and promote inter-regional tourism routes, organize cultural weeks and art exchange festivals, promote tourism cooperation and share experiences in sustainable tourism development.
The two sides were also encouraged to facilitate travel for visitors using border entry-exit passes through the Thanh Thuy (Vietnam) - Tianbao (China) International Border Gate for tourism purposes. They will also study the possibility of extending visitor stay durations and expanding tourism areas for travelers from both sides in Tuyen Quang province and Wenshan prefecture.

Tuyen Quang province also expressed its desire to strengthen cooperation with Yunnan in high-tech agriculture, green agriculture, organic farming and agro-forestry product processing, while promoting technology transfer, experience sharing and digital transformation applications in agricultural production.
The province also seeks closer cooperation in environmental protection, water resource management, disaster prevention, climate change response and sustainable development in border areas.
In addition, Tuyen Quang hopes to expand exchanges with Yunnan on preserving cultural identity, sustainable poverty reduction, ethnic minority development, new rural development and improving the material and spiritual well-being of local people.
