A Historical Turning Point
Tuyen Quang and Ha Giang, two provinces rich in history, culture, and revolutionary tradition, are now united under one administration. The merger was not only the outcome of the Party and State’s policy to streamline administrative units for more efficient governance, but also a reflection of strategic vision in regional development. With a natural area of nearly 14,000 square kilometers and a population of over 1.86 million, the new province now has greater scale, position, and influence.
The merger has opened new development space, strengthened regional connectivity, and created fresh visions, drivers, growth poles, and development corridors. As a mountainous border province of special importance for national defense, security, and foreign relations, and adjacent to the vast market of the world’s second-largest economy, China, Tuyen Quang now stands at a historic opportunity to harness its unique advantages and shared strengths of the former provinces to restructure its economy, optimize resources, and seize new breakthroughs.
This congress has been identified as one of aspiration for renewal and development. That aspiration comes not only from the combined strength of the two provinces but also from the trust of millions of officers, Party members, and residents in a breakthrough future.
The newly merged province holds outstanding potential: a land that brings together all elements to develop high-tech agriculture and forestry, cultural, ecological, and historical tourism, along with processing industries, renewable energy, and border trade.
With hundreds of revolutionary historical sites, together with the UNESCO Global Geopark Dong Van Karst Plateau, Tay Con Linh mountain range, the Lo-Gam-Chay river system, Na Hang-Lam Binh lake, and the diverse culture of 25 ethnic groups, the province holds invaluable treasures for the development of sustainable green tourism.
Construction of the Tuyen Quang–Ha Giang Expressway is being accelerated
At the same time, Thanh Thuy International Border Gate, the Tuyen Quang-Phu Tho Expressway connecting to the Noi Bai-Lao Cai Expressway, the under-construction Tuyen Quang-Ha Giang Expressway, and key national highways create major advantages for trade and investment. The merger also means financial, human, and infrastructure resources are combined, opening opportunities to build new economic hubs and strong growth poles across the region.
Ms. Dang Thi Oanh, a retired officer in Ha Gang 2 ward, shared that she had the honor of working during the proud years of Ha Tuyen, then remained in Ha Giang after the provincial separation in 1991 to continue contributing. Now that Tuyen Quang and Ha Giang are reunited under new conditions, she and all residents expect the province to break through based on the combined strengths of the former provinces and their long-standing ties. She especially believes this congress will make the strategic decisions that define a new path of development and collective aspiration.
Aspiration from the People’s Trust
The atmosphere of anticipation for the congress spread from urban to rural areas, from Tan Trao to Lung Cu, as people looked forward to this special political event of the Party, authorities, and all ethnic communities in the province. In the new context, public trust and expectations for the coming tenure and development journey have risen higher.
Mr. Hoang Van Quang, a farmer in Bac Quang commune, said: “We believe the merger will bring more opportunities for our agricultural products to reach wider markets with greater value. We hope the province invests in transport infrastructure and supports us in applying technology to improve efficiency.”
Meanwhile, Mr. Vu Hoang Thang, a young entrepreneur in Minh Xuan ward, shared that the merger created a larger market and bigger investment opportunities. He and other businesses expect the province to introduce more policies supporting startups and encouraging young investors to take bold steps.
These voices reflect the spirit of consensus and aspiration among the people, an important driving force for turning the congress’s resolutions into reality. The 1st Congress of the Tuyen Quang Provincial Party Committee, 2025-2030 tenure, was not only a major political event but also a statement of strong determination by the newly merged province.
With a tradition of solidarity, the determination of the Party, authorities, and people, along with strategic vision and development aspiration, this first congress after the merger will go down in history as a milestone - a mark of the will to renew, develop, and integrate. From here, Tuyen Quang, in its new development space, is set to make breakthroughs and become a bright spot of progress in the region and the nation.
