High-level officials atteded the Ceremony, included Vice Chairman Hoang Viet Phuong
Among the distinguished attendees was Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha, alongside representatives from central ministries, national agencies, local authorities, international organizations, and foreign embassies in Vietnam. Representing Tuyen Quang province at the event was Mr. Hoang Viet Phuong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee. On this special occasion, the province also sent a bouquet of fresh flowers to extend congratulations to the Russian Embassy, expressing the deep respect and warm friendship of Tuyen Quang’s Party, government, and people toward the long-standing relationship between the two nations.
Speaking at the ceremony, H.E. Mr. Gennady Stepanovich Bezdetko, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Vietnam, recalled the immense sacrifices made by the Soviet people in the struggle against fascism, with more than 22 million lives lost, including the contributions of Vietnames volunteer fighters. He underscored the historic significance of the victory, which not only safeguarded Russia’s sovereignty but also became a symbol of global peace.
In his congratulatory remarks, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha emphasized that the victory in the Great Patriotic War was a powerful source of inspiration for oppressed nations fighting for independence and freedom around the world, including Vietnam. It was this spirit that helped fuel the Vietnamese people’s success in the August Revolution in 1945, leading to the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.
Deputy Prime Minister Ha also expressed deep gratitude for the valuable support provided by the former Soviet Union, and now the Russian Federation, throughout Vietnam’s resistance wars and national reconstruction. He paid tribute to the Soviet experts and soldiers who stood shoulder to shoulder with the Vietnamese people during the most difficult periods of the nation’s history, many of whom sacrificed their youth and even their lives for the cause of Vietnam’s independence and territorial integrity.
Reaffirming Vietnam’s consistent foreign policy, the Deputy Prime Minister stressed that the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Russia remain a priceless shared asset of both nations. On this basis, the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries will continue to be strengthened and expanded across key areas such as economy, trade, national defense and security, energy, education and training, science and technology, tourism, and people-to-people exchange.
The commemoration not only served as a moment to honor a historic victory and the heroes who fell for peace, but also stood as a vivid symbol of the long-lasting friendship between Vietnam and Russia, one built on mutual respect, solidarity, and a shared vision for a prosperous future.
