Production line for paper at An Hoa Pulp and Paper Factory in Son Duong District, Tuyen Quang Province
Project Goals
The project aims to transform Tuyen Quang into a national standard high-tech forestry zone, gradually achieving international standards. It seeks to become a central hub for seedling production, forest development, wood processing, and timber trade for the entire Northern Midlands and Mountainous region.
Specific Targets
By 2030, Tuyen Quang plans to produce 30 million high-tech forestry seedlings annually, with raw material areas achieving a productivity of 22 m³/ha/year. Additionally, 100% of exported wood products will have legal origins. The project also targets a 50% participation rate of ethnic minority laborers in the forestry sector, with 40% of the workforce trained by 2030 and 100% by 2045. Notably, Tuyen Quang strives to supply at least 30% of the forestry seedling demand for the entire Northern Midlands and Mountainous region by 2045, making wood processing a key economic sector.
Key Tasks
The project identifies four core areas within the modern forestry production chain:
- Developing High-Tech Forestry Seedling Production: The province will focus on researching, testing, selecting, and producing new forestry varieties with high productivity, good quality, disease resistance, and adaptability to climate change. Concurrently, it will establish a system of nurseries, tissue culture facilities, and high-tech breeding zones to ensure a proactive supply of seedlings for the entire province and the Northern Midlands and Mountainous region.
Developing Large-Scale, Sustainable Timber Raw Material Areas: This includes linking with forest management certification and expanding the cultivation of high-value medicinal plants and non-timber forest products. The province will also prioritize applying modern technology in forest resource management, monitoring, fire prevention and control, pest and disease prevention, and tracing the legal origin of forest products.
Modernizing the Wood and Non-Timber Forest Product Processing Industry: Processing facilities will be invested in to upgrade production lines and adopt deep processing technologies that are environmentally friendly. Specifically, the province will attract businesses to invest in planned industrial zones and clusters specializing in wood processing, paper and pulp production, wood pellets for energy, and high-quality wood-composite products.
Developing E-commerce and Trade Promotion: This involves combining e-commerce with exhibitions and trade promotion for high-tech forestry products, gradually connecting with international trading platforms. Furthermore, the province will establish the Tuyen Quang Wood and Forest Products Association to link businesses, organizations, and individuals operating in this sector.
