Area-XI Forest rangers provide guidance to Trieu Quoc Hao in Ngoc Binh hamlet, Bach Ngoc commune, on tending acacia plantations
This strategic direction not only enhances the value of forest resources but also opens up prospects for building an integrated forestry value chain, creating stable livelihoods, improving incomes for local communities and gradually positioning Tuyen Quang as a high-tech forestry zone and a national center for wood production and processing.
Economic gains from forestry development
A typical example is the family of Trieu Quoc Hao in Ngoc Binh hamlet, Bach Ngoc commune. Since 2002, his family has planted acacia and cinnamon trees across nearly eight hectares of forest land. Through sustained investment and the proactive adoption of proper planting and forest management techniques, the plantation forests have developed well, delivering stable harvests over many years. In some years, income from timber harvesting has exceeded VND 250 million, significantly improving household livelihoods.
For many years, Hung Huong Production and Trading Co., Ltd. has served as a reliable partner for local forest growers by purchasing the entire output of plantation timber in the area. Harvested timber is classified and supplied to major paper mills as well as export-oriented wood processing enterprises within the province, forming close and stable linkages between forest growers and businesses.
These on-the-ground outcomes reflect the growing effectiveness of Tuyen Quang’s forestry economy. The province currently has more than one million hectares of forestry land, including over 549,000 hectares of production forests. Each year, more than 15,000 hectares of new forests are planted, while around 1.3 million cubic meters of plantation timber are harvested, supplying raw materials for dozens of large-scale wood processing facilities operating steadily for both domestic consumption and export.
To date, more than 89,000 hectares of forests in Tuyen Quang have been granted FSC certification for sustainable forest management. This certification serves as a “passport” for local timber products to access international markets and provides a foundation for participation in the emerging forest carbon credit market.

Export-oriented wood production at Woodsland Tuyen Quang Joint Stock Company, Yen Son Industrial Cluster
Moving toward deep processing and export markets
At Woodsland Tuyen Quang Joint Stock Company, production activity is running at full capacity as export orders for Europe, the United States and Japan are processed. As one of the province’s leading wood manufacturers, the company operates modern factories located near key plantation forest areas, creating a closed-loop value chain that links forest growers, deep processing and export markets. The model not only enhances value added but also generates stable employment for thousands of local workers.
Other enterprises are also expanding export-oriented wood processing. At industrial clusters across the province, manufacturers specializing in plywood, furniture, wood pellets and sawn timber are supplying products to demanding markets such as the EU, the United States and Japan, alongside traditional partners in Asia. In these markets, product quality, traceability and compliance with international standards are decisive factors for competitiveness.
According to industry representatives, the development of stable FSC-certified raw material areas, combined with modern processing facilities, is key to building a strong and recognizable “Tuyen Quang timber” brand in global markets.
Outlook toward 2030
Looking ahead, Tuyen Quang aims to maintain forest coverage at 62.2 percent by 2030, expand FSC-certified forest area to more than 100,000 hectares, and raise plantation forest productivity to 22 cubic meters per hectare per year. The province also seeks to increase the value of plantation timber through longer harvesting cycles and deeper processing, thereby maximizing economic returns while ensuring sustainability.
To achieve these goals, Tuyen Quang is prioritizing the application of science and technology across the forestry sector. Measures include the use of biotechnology in seedling production to improve uniformity and boost productivity by 20–30 percent; the deployment of GIS, remote sensing and drone technology for real-time forest monitoring, early wildfire warnings and forest change tracking; and increased mechanization in forest planting, tending and timber harvesting operations.
With a clear strategic vision and coordinated policy support, Tuyen Quang’s forestry sector is entering a phase of strong momentum. By aligning sustainable forest management with deep processing, digital transformation and export integration, the province is laying a solid foundation for green economic growth, environmental protection and long-term prosperity.
