U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam Marc E. Knapper Works in Tuyen Quang

On the morning of February 18, Mr. Nguyễn Văn Sơn, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Tuyen Quang Province, worked with a delegation from the U.S. Embassy in Hanoi, led by H.E, Mr. Marc E. Knapper, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States to Viet Nam.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged information on economic, trade, and educational relations, as well as people-to-people exchanges and potential areas of cooperation, discussed and explored opportunities to strengthen collaboration in areas of interest to Tuyen Quang Province.

Expressing his gratitude for the warm welcome extended by the provincial leadership, Ambassador Marc E. Knapper stated that this was his first official visit to Tuyen Quang Province. He emphasized that the visit carried significant importance - not only as a reflection on the past but also as a step toward a stronger future.

Through this meeting, Ambassador Knapper expressed his desire to further strengthen the U.S. - Vietnam relationship in general and deepen ties with Tuyen Quang Province in particular. He also highlighted opportunities for bilateral cooperation in areas such as education and training, the semiconductor industry, high-tech manufacturing, and digital collaboration.

Chairman Nguyễn Văn Sơn warmly welcomed the Ambassador and his delegation, providing an overview of the province’s natural conditions and socio-economic development. He emphasized that Tuyen Quang is home to more than 600 historical relics, including two recognized as special national sites. Among them is the Đồng Minh hut, a historic site marking the positive ties between Vietnam and the United States, where Allied soldiers against fascism stayed and worked in 1945.

Chairman Nguyễn Văn Sơn expressed his appreciation for Ambassador Knapper's support in initiatives such as the English Access Microscholarship Program, assistance for English teaching assistants, and the construction of classrooms in certain localities. He expressed hope that in the future, the Ambassador would continue to show special attention and affection for Tuyen Quang - a province with a historical connection to U.S. - Vietnam relations - while further deepening the comprehensive partnership between the two countries in a substantive and meaningful manner.
